An Active learning environment: Vygotsky’s theory is implemented into today’s 21st century classroom unknowingly to the students. In a classroom using Vygotsky’s theory, one would see dynamic support and consideration of guidance based on the learner’s needs. However, this will not be forced by the teacher or peer that is interacting with that particular learner. The student will be given assistance through peer interaction and teacher support for the information that he or she is unable to retain through reading a text. In a more active learning environment, those students would be engaged and exposed to electronic information based on the context and material, group discussions, collaborations or be in group projects that requires them to research information involving problem analysis.
Instructional Technology:
When using Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) this can be implemented through technology by having online activities and projects that are meaningful to the students. Teachers can provide videos, interactive worksheets, and instructional games to engage their students and assist them through scaffolding. This includes having access to the internet, library databases, Facebook group discussions, creating a Twitter account for the specific class and establish technology resources.
