Robert Gagne’s 9 Events of Instruction: Support for Instructional Technology

Instructional technology allows learning that is on demand. You can be anywhere, at any time, under several circumstances gain information at any time. This ability to acquire information needs a program/theory that allows varied learners to gain access to instruction that is adaptable and straight forward in order to successfully reach the many types of learners that will access the information. When thinking of the instructional design needed for instructional technology, Gagne’s theory makes a lot of sense and is very relevant. Gagne’s theory is adaptable to several learning modalities and offers a straight forward approach to learning, because it has an “I guide, now you do” approach to learning that the learner can internalize.

Here is a short video that explains instructional design and it’s use with instructional technology.
